What is SYNDROS?
SYNDROS is a prescription medicine used in adults to treat:
- Nausea and vomiting caused by anti-cancer medicine (chemotherapy) in adults whose nausea and vomiting have not improved with usual anti-nausea medicines.
- Loss of appetite (anorexia) in adults with AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) who have lost weight.
It is the first and only FDA-approved Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which allows for flexible dosing and a potential solution for adult patients who may prefer or benefit from a liquid medication that provides fast absorption – THC detected in blood plasma levels in 15 minutes in fasting adult patients (1)
- The concentrations of both dronabinol and its major active metabolites (11-hydroxy-delta-9-THC) peak at approximately .5 to 4 hours after oral dosing with SYNDROS and decline over several days (2)
- 4.2 mg is bioequivalent to 5 mg dronabinol capsule under fasted conditions (2)
